After Covid-19 came into our lives, we have found ourselves working from our homes with the other family members instead of the ergonomic working environments in our ordinary office lives.
Our dining tables, kitchen benches, sofas and side tables has become our working environment for a while. Since we are away from our office belongings, now it is a necessity to create our own productive workspaces in our homes to make working from home efficient.
And here we would like to remind you some tips that you may already know of to turn your home into a more effective and healthy workspaces:
- Do not keep the items in the workroom that might distract your attention such as TVs.
- Keep your posture properly to not experience any aches such as on your neck, waist etc. To prevent the pain, avoid working on couches with the computer on your coffee table or on your lap.
- It would be helpful to have a working desk and working chair if possible.
- Although the table dimensions vary according to your working space, it will be appropriate to have a minimum size of 120 X 60 cm.
- In order to prevent back and neck pain, it is worth paying attention that the working chair has a lumbar support with a mesh back and height adjustable.
- Pay attention to adjust the height of your work chair sitting upright with your feet on the ground. Thus you can prevent the back and waist spasm.
- Most home tables are not designed to work long hours in terms of their heights. If your dining/kitchen table is 3 cm higher than normal when your chair is in standard sizes, you will feel pressure in your arms and waist after a while. Having a work chair might tolerate height issue via adjusting the height to existing table.
- Another important aspect for an effective workspace is lighting. Best way of lighting is to have a good portion of daylight through windows. If the daylight is not enough, have a luminaire that will not strain your eyes.
- Let some fresh air into your room frequently.
- Prefer healthy snacks for a higher concentration.
- And make sure to have short breaks in order to relieve the muscles and tone up the motivation.
We globally faced an unusual situation… What more important is to understand that this situation is born of necessity and it is temporary.
Stay safe and healthy…
